Dear Precious One,
Our family has been preparing a place for you for some time now, and if you are reading this it is likely that you will soon be joining us in that place. Wherever you may be, and whatever brought you to this place in life, I know that you must be scared. This world is a big place full of brokenness that has already touched your little life in ways that many people could never understand. I don’t understand the pain you are feeling, but our family would be honored to walk through it with you.
My name is Stephanie, and my husband’s name is Brad. We have two sons, August and Gideon that are so excited to play with you and welcome you as their brother or sister. We are going to be your “for now” family for as long as you need us. We want you to know that we are cheering for your biological family and praying for them. Our hope is that we can love you and care for you while your biological family heals and prepares for you to return. However, if that isn’t possible, we will gladly welcome you into our family as a forever son or daughter. No matter how long you are in our home, you will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Before you arrive at our home, I would like to tell you that our home is a safe place. We will provide you with plenty of food, clothes to wear, and a nice room to sleep in. Our family likes to do things together, and we hope you will join us. We love pretending to be superheroes and going on walks. We have dinner together as a family each night, and we have a spot just for you at the table. Our boys are excited to share their toys and books with you, and help you feel right at home.
You are so loved little one. We love you and have been praying for you. We are so excited to teach you about a love far greater than ours or any earthly love: the love of Jesus. Even on your worst day, Jesus loves you, and we believe that He has an incredible plan for your life. We are honored to be a small part of that plan, and we are humbled to step into the hard places of your story and hold your hand through it.
I have no idea what tomorrow holds for your story, but I can promise you that today I will be right here with you holding you close as you try to make sense of this big scary world. Welcome to the Roberts Tribe, precious one. We have been waiting for you.
With So Much Love,
The Roberts Tribe: Stephanie, Brad, August, & Gideon
