Sweet Mama or Daddy,
I know that life has been hard and that this might be your hardest season yet. My heart for you is one of compassion and not judgment. We live in a world full of brokenness and sometimes our struggles take us to places that we never wanted to go. I know that this is not a reflection of your love for your child. As a parent, I know the deep love that you have for your child.
We want you to know that we are honored to step in the gap and serve as “for now” parents while you do the hard work to restore your family. Our heart is to see your family joyfully restored one day, and we will be cheering for you as you seek to make that a reality. We will love your child the best that we possibly can while you are apart, and we hope that we can be an encouragement to you as well.
Your child will be living with myself, my husband, and our two sons. The boys are eager to welcome their new playmate and make your child feel as comfortable as possible. Our home is a safe place. We value play and connection and seek to have lots of family traditions that we will gladly include your little one in. In addition to our traditions, I would love to learn some of the traditions that you have and foods that you often cook so that we can help your little one feel as close to you as possible.
I promise you this: we will love your child with everything that we have, and we will also remind him or her of your love often. We promise that we will never speak negatively about you, especially in front of your child. We will remind him or her of you, whether it’s pointing out that you have the same smile or have the same interests. We are pulling for you, and eager for the day when you will be together again. However, until that day comes, we will be here. We are prepared to be a family to your child for as long as we are needed.
Above all of the reassurances that we will care well for your child, there is something more important that I want you to know. You are loved. Even on your worst day, you are so very loved. The God of this universe gave His Son as an act of love for you. He loves you and has an incredible plan for you. At the feet of Jesus, you won’t find condemnation or judgment. Instead, you will find love and grace. We seek to offer that same love and grace to you as we begin this journey together. In Jesus, there is healing and restoration, and we pray that you will look to Him for help in this hard season.
We hope that you will open your heart to us. I promise that we will meet you with the same openness and understanding. You are in our prayers.
Your New Friends,
The Roberts Tribe
Oh what a gift! I love your heart to love and honor these birth parents so well!
This is beautiful. I am a CASA in the State of Montana. God bless your family for the gift you are giving to a needy child(ren) and the parents.
